RENUALT MEGANE 2006 OFFSIDE REAR WINDOW

Postby ROWAN04 » Tue May 22, 2012 8:15 pm

MY OFFSIDE REAR WINDOW HAS STOPPED WORKING IN THE DOWN POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND I GOT AWAY WITH A WIGGLE OF THE WIRES. THIS HAS NOT QWORKED THIS TIME AND NO BLOWN FUSES AND ALL OTHER WINDOWS WORK. IS THIS A MOTOR PROBLEM OR ELACTRICAL? HOW DO I FIX THE PROBLEM? WOULD BE VERY HAPPY IF SOMEONE CAN HELP?

could be motor could be cable.

you will need to remove the rear quarter trim inside to get a look, when it dropped last did it make any unusuak sounds, cable grinding etc in side the motor is a winding wheel and tha cable are wound arount it one pulls the other pulled, and vice a versa for opening and shuting, the wind on a plastic wheel as one cable pulls it unwinds and the other pulled cable replaces it on the plastic worm wheel, these cable wear the lips on the worm wheel until you get a jumped cable in other words the cable inhabits the wrong slot on the worm wheel so the next time you open/shut depending on which cable the motor will jam the cables as it winds over the one in the wrong slot, window is now kaput the cables cannot be reused as they will be kinked and will way run untrue. with this proble you can sometimes hear the motor trying to unwind the cables a little before it jams again.
If the motor has gone it is probally becasue it got wet, the motor sits in a wonderful postion at the bottom corner of the metal regulator which has guides in it for the glass to do its specific movements to close, these chanels also direct water right onto the motor (WELL DONE RENAULT) this water infects either the block conector or the window ECU which sits ontop of the motor, window does not operate at all, sometimes you can get away with disconecting it leaving it an hour or so and reconection occasionally they spring back into life most don't so you could well be looking at a new regulator for that rear window, very rare do you get motors only, renault don't sell the motor but I do vaugly remember someone on here sending their reg away to someone on ebay I think it was and got it repaired may well be worth a forum search you might come accross that post, cheaper than a new one and may even be cheaper than a used one, incidentally it is a specific regualtor so only look at meg CC the older Meg 1 convertable rear reg looks the same but it is not don't buy it you will waste your money niether do the standard rear megs fit. these have a specific shape.
