Hi guys,

Every time we had some rain when I open the drivers door water start leaking from inside the door down to floor from the lower corner below the lock (about half a pint). There are not leaks inside the car but I am worry about the water corroding the door from inside out.

Does anyone have the same problem? how the water gets into the inner part of the door? through the window rubber or the door mirror rubber joints?

Any help appreciate it as the local renault dealer charge £80 per hour!!!!

thanks & regards,

L

There's various ways it'll get in there but it should drain via the drain holes at the bottom of the door. You need to make sure that these aren't blocked.

The actual door seal behind the door card is often poorly fitted either at manufacturing stage or later if, for example someone has had it off when fitting new speakers. You could do with checking this too and repairing any obviously open areas with Duct tape or something similar.

It's not uncommon for water to come out of the bottom of the door when you open it and, as the door is iopen it's ok 'cos it's simply going on to the outside ground.

Thanks for the answer. I didnt know there are drain wholes at the botton of the door; i will check them out!

I had a look to the rubber and join materials to the window and they seem pretty wear down so it might be replacing but I dont want to take it to the renault dealer as they charge too much for an hour 8-)

Stranger is dead right It's pretty normal for water to get into the door via the window seals on just about every car, the manufacturers recognise this and cater for it by putting drain holes in the bottom of the door. As he says you need to check the drain holes are not blocked or obstructed.
