Does anyone know if there is a way to lock the roof in a half cocked position? The reason being is to allow access to the seals without losing fingers. Cheers guys.

I would like to know this also, any ideas? Anyone know what happens if you lower a roof in perfect working order manually and what then happens when you try to get it to work automatically?
Anyone had any experience of opening the roof half way and switching the ignition off?

I have to hold the switch down for the complete opening or closing sequence. If i let it go at any point the roof or boot stops there and then.So this means i can park the roof in any position for better cleaning access etc etc.
I was under the impression they all operated this way or maybe it,s just mine. I was toying with the idea of sourcing a one touch switch but it,s another thing on my to do list.

Yes they all work that way however I'd like to be able to open the roof half way and safely leave it there for maybe an hour or two, perhaps even overnight.

I had mine half open, when after half an hour it closed, nearly trapping my fingers when I was vaselining the seals. Made me jump a tad. Hence wanting to know if this is a normal pressure release, or can this be locked

Exactly what I fear, according to the Renault CD manual there are references to locking the roof when working on it but it doesn't explain how to do it.

Hi,opening the roof half way isn't a problem but engine has to be running otherwise it will sink down after a short time,thats how i have wiped seals etc.

Vaseline on Rubber seals!!! That will damage them surely?

No it wont, it is a trick most "split" roof owners use to lub and seal usually for the winter the down side is it attracts alot of dirt but is easily cleaned off in the summer the vasaline fills in little imperfections in old seals to stop those water drips in winter.
