Heater Box

Apparently, I have a leak off a heater box pipe which means my car won't hold its air con gas, this has not affected the heating system itself and hot air blows through fine, as does normal outside air etc, just no air con after a few weeks as the gas escapes out the leak, is it worth forking out for a new heater box and to have it fitted? It's a full dash out job isn't it and I've had air con in cars for the past 3-4 years but never used it...

Must admit this is the 1st car I have owned with air con, and as you very rare if ever actually use it might wack it on when I first get in to cool it down (if I remember) but usally just open windows or in our case off with the roof can't get better air con than that ,in winter don't use it either just the heater blower, suprised it still works actually. :)

Aircon its really useful in the winter as it dries the air so demists the windows very very quickly.

Absolutly!
you will be suprised how many people don't use in the winter put it on again in spring and then complain it doesn't work, (no gas) as the seals have dried out... must admit even though I don't use it I still run it every now and then for around 15 minutes once/twice a month just to keep it turning over, but as said nerver actually use it that much, I tihnk it comes from owning cars before that didn't have it, even now I will just use the blower to clear the screen which is does very rapidly indeed, or put it another way if it where to break (not a Renault - BREAK never!) I would not miss it as it is sometihng I have not come to rely on, Yet! :)
Having said that there are not that many cars out there now that don't have it as standard in some form, so possibly over the next few years I will become relaiant on it as we are with the heater, well I am in the winter.

After a week of legal battles against Evans Halshaw, they're gonna repair the whole thing free of charge :)
