Driving the car the other day and noticed quite a clunk when operating the handbrake, the clunk occurred just as the brake was starting to bite and hadn't been there previously.
When I looked in through the handbrake lever slots I could see an electrical connector was catching between one of the levers and the inside of the storage compartment wall.
It was easy to get to, just opened the storage compartment lid then slightly and carefully prised the top edge of the switch panel lip upward while also pushing the panel forward towards the gear lever.
The panel unclipped quite easily and I could see that both of the connectors were in place for the roof switch and the windows switch but there were 2 additional unused connectors presumably for the heated seat option and it was one of these that was fouling the lever.
I don't have heated seats and the problem was they were just dangling there so I used cable ties to attach them to the roof and window connector cables which keeps them out of the way of the handbrake lever, then just popped the panel back into place.
Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else has noticed this problem because its not good news to have any part of the electrical system fouling a moving mechanism.
Might just be worth shining a torch in through the handbrake lever slots and taking a peek.
