cabrio gone mad!
Hi, I`new here and i hope someone can help.I have a 2004 cabrio 1.6 . Recently it`s developed 2 problems. Firstly, while driving the wipers will come on by them selves, even on a dry sunny day and they will not turn off. The hazard lIghts also come on at the same time but without flashing. When i get to my destination the car engine will not turn off. The only way to turn it off is to stall the car. This done the wipers and hazard lights are now feeding from the battery so the only way i have to stop them is to disconect the battery and then reconect it, but then i might get the second problem..... The second problem is now very often the car is dead. I unlock, open the door and....nothing, the entire dash is blank. Sometimes, if i disconect the battery and wait a while, when i reconect it all is well but mostly it stays dead. I`m just hoping that someone may have also had this problem and solved it. HELP!

Wow that sounds liek a right mixture of problems! I wouldnt know where to start with that. It sounds like there is deffinatly an electical fault with what ever is controlling the feed of electic to certain parts of the car.
This isnt a very helpfull comment and somthing you have probably considered doing but, Your probably best taking it to a garage to be honest, sounds like a tough one

Auto electricain! these cars are electrically quite complicated, and not the best either electrically, could be something as simple as an earth point not working any more, but to me it sounds like when you disconect the battery and reconect you are resetting something, which enables the car to function for a while. could be sometihng shorting.
Don't want to worry you but the main casue of vehicle fires and ECU fries are electrical faults, I would get it looked at pretty quick to stop it damaging other relays or components, not to mention how anoying it must be!

Yeah A garage that has a good Auto Electrician, as Chris said, they are quite complex. When I was taking mine apart to fit the roll hoops, there were switches behind seats that ive no idea as to what they do
After 2006 they made some changes to the electrics on the Megane CC so I was told by the dealer when I bought mine, simply because of some of the issue people were having under warrenty. Its like everything with Renault though, the 2nd phase models are what the 1st phase should have been.
My Clio 197 had gearbox issues, the issues were resolved when the Clio 200 was released
Although it was still great great fun after I fitted a 200 box!!

Re: cabrio gone mad!
hi it may be a shorted hazard button it may also be a wiper relay, pull the facia and pop the hazard button off see if it solves it if not pull the relays, hazard and window wipers see if it solves it there comon problems on renaults so i hear and the poster that said about the switches/levers at the base of the hoops they where prob active hoops ie when the sensor senses the cars going to roll they pop up ,the lever /switch is what you re set them with when you push them back down ,also it may be a short on the wiper stalk
