Lower wishbone + ball joint.

Well, helped a chap on Sunday do my passenger lower wishbone, as the ball joint had gone.
now both ball joints where done in march this year for an MOT fail, but it seems the lad has "walloped" the passenger side joint into the hub with hammer, as the ring that holds the base of the joint in had fractured and was coming away, so joint had lost all grease and the cup had moved away from the ball. Excellent work!
so this time I asked my friend, bought a complete lower wishbone and put it on on Sunday, job took start to finish 1.5 hours, wow, considering the lad that first did them on a ramp took 8 hours for both joints, we started early, my friend ex renault tec laughed at 8 hrs and we finished the job complete with steering track control arm on in 1.5 hrs.
basically when it was on the ramp they took off most of the subframe, and steering componets, just to ge tthe arm out, hell of a job, there where car bits every where on the floor.
WE took off the undertray, poped off the clips for the wheel arch cover, dropped the steel support plate from the sub frame, took all bolts out of the rad sub frame (4 in all, 2 18mm and 2 13mm) so you can push this subframe forward, simple really, took out the wishbone bolts and ball joint pich bolt, and pulled the wishbone out, it was that simple, had a brew, took the clips off the gaiter and undid the track control arm with some large grips, loctite threads and spun the new one on this one came with flats so was a simple tighten up job, new track rod end gaited on job done , have a brew, then wishbone in, a few taps with a rubber hammer to line up all bolts in and bobs your uncle before you know it you are bolting the rad subframe back up, wheel arch lines and steel support palste on, the only place you have to watch is the link where the raf subframe meets the body there is a cutout and a hole, make sure these stay in line when you tighten the top bolt up, no idea why but you are told to tdo this by Renault, so we did, used a thin punch to keep them in line, and that was it, 2 hrs later I was home, it was so simple just goes to show really the Renault lad make it look simple yet the lad that 1st did it removed nearly everything, and would have cost a fortune in ramp time for 8 hrs work, my mate reckons we could have done both arms in 2.5 hrs as rad suframe was already adrift.
Just thought I would let you know they are suprisingly unpainful to do yourself. or with a friend with some technical knowledge. CC is my friend again now!
But for how long!
