I have a Renault Megane CC 2005 model. Over the last 6 months the electrics have started to play up big time.

The radio used to come on by itself now and then. The clock and temperature controls sometiimes illuminated when the car was locked. I took it to my renault dealer who told me that it was a faulty radio and would cost £250 to replace. I then forked out £300 for a ipod compatible radio. This did not cure the problem. It has now stopped raining every day and the fault with the clock and temperature controls have gone.

The rear windows now no longer work on any of the switches. When i take the roof down the front windows go down but not the rear.
I telephoned the renault workshops who told me that it was likely that BOTH of the windows ECUs had gone and they would cost £250 each plus labour to get them working. I am very sceptical of there telephone diagnosis after the faulty radio incident.

I have checked the fuses under the steering wheel and they are fine. Are there any other fuses/relays that I should check before forking out £500+???

Hi, i have had similar problems with my megane cc with the windows working intermittantly, when i pressed the buttons i could here clicking but not movement in the window. after searching through the forums for problems there seems to be a common fault with renault window regulators. They are not sealed and when water gets into them they stop working. some people have contacted renault customer service and they have helped them out by paying large amounts of the bill to have window regulators replaced, this is normally done on how old the car is. I would recommend this, However if you try this and you have no joy there is some advice on the forum of how to remedy the problem. By removing the door card and unpluging the regulator and drying it out then re fitting it and seal it to prevent further water ingress.
