Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask people what average mpg they get on a car with the same specs as mine. Mine's a 2004 CC Privilege 1.9TDI. It always seems to sit at either 43.5mpg or 41.5mpg. Is this what it should be? It seemed a bit low to me.

It depends on your driving style and what sort of journeys you do..
I'm getting 53MPG out of mine.. that's mostly motorway driving, with quite a lot of that at 50mph on the M25 where it is being widened..
I'm careful to exercise the turbo each trip though, with a blast up a hill on my way home from work.
I keep a close eye on my tyre pressures, I was very surprised to find that I should run the fronts at 38PSI for motorway use..
I have an app on my iPhone that I use to track MPG as the on board computer display is a little optimistic..

Now it is winter, and with a 30 mile straight 70mph dash down the A55 to Anglesey I now get 44.1 to 3 MPG, must admit depending on how late I am sometimes it is closer to 80mph in places in the summer I get around 48/49 mpg on the same trip, no heaters or lights, it does make a differance!

o.m.g just found this thread, and im only getting 31mpg .

we drive carfully.
we was getting nealy 40 mpg , but the car went to the garage because the steering
lock jammed and would'nt start , they said it was down to a electical box under the
steering colum , it cost £400 to fix, since it came back we never got decent mpg
its a 54 plate 19d.

ok, i got to the bottom of my low m.p.g, the computer needed reseting, simply put it on m.p.g then hold the wiper stalk button in for a few seconds. now it reads that i am getting 47mpg.
hope this helps someone eles, as i nearly booked my car in to be looked at, and could have had my leg lifted.

Round town we get around 38 - 40mpg and on a run 53ish in the summer and 50ish with winter diesel ( why's that?) Always seem to do better when driving accross Europe, we do a 1600 mile trip to Portugal every September and it averages 54mpg and thats not using toll roads !

50ish with winter diesel ( why's that?)
Heaters, heated rear screen and lights draw on the vehicles power system so the engine works harder to supply it [basic discription] Air Con is a tremedious draw on MPG mine has been giving around 42.5 in winter as the weather picks up, auto lights switched off and the heating system not using the blower I am now hitting 44.9 and still climbing thats in a 1.9DCI 04 car, I also think the air is denser in the winter as it is cold so the engine does not process it as efficiently into combustion, it all affects MPG in the end.
Roll on the summer!!! lid off and good MPG! No leaks, there are always posatives.........
