Condensation

Postby rob2005 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 10:38 pm

Im getting massive condensation problems with my CC. Im talking blasting the windscreen with climate control for 2-3 minutes and it having no effect.

Is this normal? Does anyone have experience of it?

have you got it set to recirculate air from inside the car or to take air from outside of the car. I used to have condensation problems until I changed to use air from outside

Is the car wet inside (very) I had a Fiat with a leaking sunroof which wasn't to bad at 1st but it wasn't long before it really started to soak the inside of the car as in really wet carpets which in turn made the screen at first then all the windows wet inside it took ages for the heater to clear them as it was more than just steamed up they where actually WET!
I had quite a lot of water ingress last weekend from the roof hinges, bit of a puddle on the rear seat but it did rain, boy did it rain hard! if you have leather then have a quick feel of the carpets if it is just the front screen try each front footwell, rear carpets usually wet the rear and side windows first, wet carpets/seats can cause a lot of condensation.
We notice seats quite quickly for obvious reasons, but never the carpets!

Most likely the climate at the moment - I have a towel that I take with me in the car and dry it on a radiator in the house. The humid air will condense on the coldest surface inside the car - the glass, once the temperature drops below the dew point. The climate control / air conditioning will only kick in above a certain minimum temperature. It doesn't help that the humidity and possibly condensate is also present in the air in the various parts of the ventilation system which will prolong any demisting.

It happens on my parents' cars also - a Nissan and a Toyota.
