Heated seats on privilige

Postby EclipseMeganecc » Fri Jun 26, 2009 6:34 pm

Well I was cleaning out the car today, when I thought I would inspect the panel under the handbrake to see if the Megane had a loom for the optional heated seats.

This is what I found, 2 connectors that I can only assume are for the 2 heated seat switches that would go on the panel where the hood, windows, reversing switchs go. I also checked in the fuse box and there is a fuse in place for heated seats. So it looks like the loom is pre wired in, but would the seats have the heating element in too?

no. the seats are different.

wiring looms and fuse boxes are pre-assembled components and they go where they go when being built up. saves money

These connectors are indeed for the heated seat, but I don't think your seats have the heating elements in them. Why would Renault otherwise charge extra for this option?
Renault uses only two wiring looms for all models: one for the base models, another for the more luxurious models.
When you have these connectors, there will also be a red and yellow connector hidden underneath the carpet near the gearshift. Red is for PDC, yellow for the carkit. Nice thing is that the yellow connector is working, even without ordering the carkit-option. So if you need permanent 12Volt, switched 12Volt and so on, you just need to buy an inexpensive pre-wired connector from Renault!

Thanks, did think that Renault would have the loom wired in but without the heated seat. Would be cheap to install tho, would just need the 2 switches.

I did come accross another plug which was next to the gear shift. Whats the PCD? and car kit do?

PDC = Park Distance Control (reversing sensors).

The carkit-connector establishes the connection between the Renault phone-holder and the speakers, microphone plus 12Volt supply. I wrote this connector is yellow, but actually it's black with a yellow "interior", the contra-connector is yellow.

The original PDC-system has a button beneath the parkingbrake to deactivate the sensors (when towing a trailer or caravan). Is your system factory-fitted? What modell do you drive (authentique, expression, dynamique of privilige)? When was the car produced?

I have the button on the handbrake console that turns off the parking sensors. Its factory fitted to my 2006 Megane CC 1.6 privilige.

Well, the button should have a red connector connected to it.

Mine seems to be blue for the parking sensors.
black one is to operate the roof and the white one is for put down/up all windows at the same time.

Now it's clear to me: your car is a Phase 2 and has a different wiringloom (more can-bus). That explains the different colours!

Just came across this by accident - I'm adding heated seats to my Mégane at the mo and thought I would share what I know.

Everything is there, the wires, the plugs, the fuses, all that is missing is the actual heated element in the seat - which I am ordering from Renault next week.

This is very easy to fit, the seat cover simply lifts back. If you look under each front seat, there is even a connector there waiting to be plugged into the element!

Basically, all you need is the elements for both seats, two switches, and new trim for round the handbrake with holes for the switches. I'll keep you posted on the cost of the elements, I know the switches are £9.90 each, and the trim £17.22.

I had a little play around with the plugs for the switches today using both ends of a paperclip to create a complete circuit. You can hear the switch activating and you even get a "HEATED SEAT ACTIVATED" message on the trip computer.

And to think I went through two winters on cold leather without knowing how little needs done!! :banghead

I've done seat elements before on a couple of my Audis.. You'll need two elements for each seat.
Looks like there are pictures here:http://www.reno.ro/Scaune-incalzite-page-3-t159410-s60.html

I'll be the first to admit that after taking the seats to bits and putting them back together, they never looked as good as before I fiddled with them. I've considered adding the elements and switches to my CC, but I wasn't that cold in it over the winter, so I'll leave it alone for now..

Hi guys :D ,
Sorry its such a late response (4 years in fact!!! ) I'm absolutely desperate to get the heated seats fitted to my car (I used to have them on my 03 3dr Megane 1.9 DCi) and really miss them!!!
Is there any chance, anyone knows a website or part number or something (ANYTHING!!!) that could point me in the right direction for getting the "heated seats pads/elements/inserts" that go in the seats to obviously make them heated? :cry :conf
I think i could find the necessary switches and surrounds and having read this, I took found the wiring loom (Although there were 4 plugs under the handbrake/behind the gear stick).

Let me know ASAP please guys before I have another sleepless night!

:life :banghead :life :banghead

Cheers in advance!

Adam
