Not to sure to be honest, you will have to ask them....
Ive questioned them over and over about causing damage to the engine etc, I even posed as a "new buyer" to which they responded quite well with explanations and pdf documents explaining the box itself.
As you can imagine as my car is under warrenty, I dont really want to cause it any damage that would void the warrenty.
Just give it a go, you wont be unhappy.

Any further updates/reviews on using this mod now that it's been a good few months? Worn out the clutch yet etc?

Re: ECU Piggyback Tuning Box for Diesels
After having confirmation from the seller that the auction includes a 30 day full money back guarantee minus postage, I decided to just buy one to give it a go.
I have monitored my fuel fill ups and consumption for the past few years and know exactly what I normally get on what trips I do consumption wise so I will have a good idea for whether this works or not.

Re: ECU Piggyback Tuning Box for Diesels
Okay, so before I give some feedback following a day of using my Pro Bitz Tuning Box, I would like to make clear that the video shown in Page 1 IS NOT using one of these Pro Bitz boxes that is then linked by the original poster, this is frustratingly quite misleading (although the OP may not be aware) and had I known prior to purchasing one, I wouldn't have. I am also annoyed that Pro Bitz have put a watermark logo on this uploaded video to make it look like it is being endorsed by the show. (Here is a link to the video without this watermarking feature: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PW88uR8i4Eo). It also isn't Tiff Needell either but Quentin Willson but that's not as important. (https://www.paramount-performance.com/ac ... Rover.html)
There are lots of tuning boxes on the market and some actually are just a total waste of money. The one tested in the video by Paramount Performance is one that costs a few hundred pounds and from the many forums I've read over the past few days, the more expensive (£250+) tuning boxes do seem to conclude with positive reviews, but then if you spend that much, you might as well look into a remap. The cheaper tuning boxes do seem to conclude with negative reviews and can lead to premature failure of vital engine components.
I will continue to use this for 2 full tanks (2-3 weeks) but knowing that the watermark was placed onto a video that wasn't actually related to its product, I will probably be sending this back to take advantage of the 30 day guarantee.
My driving involves a mixture of a-roads and highways and I hardly take the engine past 2500 revs unless on the highway doing 60-70mph variably (yes, I drive very sensibly).
Day 1: I installed the box within 10 minutes and kept it as it's "nominal settings" (whatever that means). No difference in performance. What I did notice though was that the trip computer showing my mpg told me I was doing on average 46mpg and continued to increase whilst I was in 3rd gear doing about 27mph and 1800revs whereas previously without the box I would be looking at around the lower end of 40mpg. I however never go off the trip computer anyway and fill up from empty > full, record mileage and convert it the proper way. I will keep anyone that actually reads this (doesn't seem to be a lot) updated.

Re: ECU Piggyback Tuning Box for Diesels
Hi sputniknick, I'm interested even though my cc is a 2 litre petrol and tuning boxes would have far less an effect on it, I do also run a Peugeot 206 1.4hdi though.
Nice to see someone else that uses an accurate method to determine mpg, I get sick and fed up with people who claim their car does X mpg because their trip computer tells them so or that the official manufacturers figures state it will do X mpg.
I realise I'm sad but I used your stated method for 12 months on the 206 and found the trip computer to be consistently 3 to 4 mpg optimistic, I just wanted to know exactly how good or bad it was.
I know what you mean about whether anyone will bother to read your post though, it really is disappointing that this forum seems to have very few participants, the more we talk the more we might learn and perhaps then we might find ourselves in a position to help others.
Anyway please keep us posted on the tuning box.

I keep track of my MPG using 'Road Trip' on my iPhone..

I've cropped the screen so you can't see how much I've actually spent on fuel and servicing / modification expenditure as well.

Hi Jason, don't get me going on iphones, I bought a new one in December and it kept dropping calls and rebooting after 5 or 6 minutes, just got back from the Exeter Apple store with a replacement. Hope this one actually makes reliable phone calls, apologies for going off topic but the rant made me feel so much better

BTW that looks like an interesting app, might just have a look at that myself, unless of course the new phone plays up and I hurl it against an immovable object, whoa there I go again, gonna have a lie down that should do the trick, yes that should work.

Re: ECU Piggyback Tuning Box for Diesels
Day 6: Took the box out and sold my car.
Whilst it was in there and turned up setting higher than it came with, it felt more torquey at the lower revs. Performance wise I didn't notice any major increase, far from the advertized figures anyway. Fuel consumption wise, the trip computer was reading figures typically 5mpg higher than what it would normally read, but I never trust it anyway. It's a shame I didn't have time to fill up full again as that would have been the main hit or miss for whether this Pro Bitz box was effective or not. In terms of long term damage... I'm still not sure how good it is however there's a really big tuning company that use these types of boxes too which plug into the common rail pressure sensor so I guess it can't be that bad... but again, I don't know.
Either way, I've not got a Megane anymore so good luck to the next owner to try one of these out.
