2003/4 2 litre vvt TDC sensor. Where?

Hi all,
My wife has just bought the car. It is sometimes a little hesitant to start. We had this on her old 1.6 a few years ago and it was sorted by cleaning the TDC sensor. I've had a good look with a mirror but the sensor is not there on this one. Does this engine still have one and if so where have they moved it to?
Any advice will be much appreciated.
