Hi i have had my megane hard top convrtible 54 reg for 6 months, in that time i have replaced the engine as turbo sucked oil up from engine and it blew up at the sidse of the road, this cost £1600, window switches went in month 3 and now the bonnet wont open and my water jets arent working. I think the motor has blown as no noiseis coming from the motor????? worst car i have ever bought, it is costing me the earth.... plus sensor gone making enginge light come on along with service light and check injection. It seems like im having all the problems possible with this car one after the other.....
Does anyone know how to open the bonnet from outside the car please as the cable has snapped and i have no funds left.....
Thanks Keith

Hi,i cant tell you exactly how to do this ,but i had the same problem,i was lucky and my bonnet cable had come out of its fixing, after a similar engine replacement(25000 miles),perhaps you might be lucky and the cable may not be broken, anyway the bonnet was opened by removing the undertray and a mechanic managed to release the catch from underneath with a long pry bar with no damage, then the cable rerouted and fastened down,i think the problem stems from your engine replacement as the front of the car will have been removed, some people talked of breaking grilles etc but that was not necessary, not a lot of help but some hope perhaps.

You can prise the front grills off it gentally they are on lugs two at top two at bottom of the black grill make sure you prtect the painted bumper though, you may find with a 1.9DCI there is not a clear route to the top of the engine bay from underneath, worth a look mind you with a tourch you may see something or if that fails it will be grills out.
Sounds like you have had hell with this car, mine played up last year with all discs and all ball joints as well as all steering joints having to be replaced, water pump went then HUD went as well plus two rear regs also died then it poped a passenger front spring taking out the top mount, broke a lower engine mount and I think the top mount is not to healthy either (lots of vibration in car) but looking good so far this year!
apart from that top mount of course
