I hate driving my cc in slow stop start traffic because it feels like it will stall especially on upward slopes.
Is it just mine or are they all like this with the pulling power of a slug.
1.6 petrol

Hi mate not sure why but you should not have this issue the cars are normally quite nippy and the petrol version should not feel like a slug. Have you done the obvious and serviced it, changed air filter etc. Mine is a 1.5 diesel and feels totally fine. Might need a check up mate. :

Re: General performance question about pulling off.
Thanks for the reply. I think that I know the answer but I am in denial mainly because I can't be bothered doing the timing again.
I changed the dephaser pulley because of the dreaded rattle but I think I may be a bit out with the timing.
It drives really well and is very smooth apart from this long ramp to speed, like I am pulling two caravans.

Re: General performance question about pulling off.
Its a 1.6 petrol they are quite under powered. I have a 1.9 diesel for that reason but to be fair its not the best either it that hefty roof, mine is a little better now its mapped but not that much, I think they both are tuned for emissions to make the hemp sandle brigade feel better about the earth killing motor car, tune it to be fully drive able and there goes your euro 4 emissions.
Seems its the trade off for having a glass roof.

I'm glad its not just mine then ChrisM.
Maybe, I expect too much.
I already posted elsewhere on here that I gave up and bought a Fiesta but this car has some kind of uncanny grip on me and I can't seem to let it go. Like Christine out of the Steve king novel.
I have some holidays coming up and I may do the timing again to make 100% sure.
Love the car but boy since I got it my mechanical knowledge has grown exponentially!

Re: General performance question about pulling off.
Thats why I went 1.9 diesel as it was better not much but better final decision made whilst test driving a 1.6 with 18k on it on a duel carriage way starting to climb pulled out to pass a truck and nothing dropped it down to 4th just made more noise that was the fourth or fifth one driven so decided I can live with this that was 8 years ago still in same 1.9 cc but I belive the 1.4tce mk3 cc is the same.
But its not just renault hired a few astra twin tops usually 1.6 petrols go really handle great up no guts up hill at all.

So today I managed to snap my steering adjustment handle!
Sodding Renaults! Why oh why make a plastic lever with such a weak point.
Just when I was coming round to the idea that I could like this car if I tried harder with the
