Hi, I have a 2004 megane. When taking the roof down its fine but on the way back up the roof comes down slightly quicker than it used to then throws a roof mechanism fault. I can then press the button again and it will finish the closing operation. This just started happening today.
Any help please would be appreciated. Thankyou in advance

Also on closing the roof, if I let go of the button and let gravity bring the roof to closing the fault won't come up

This is only a problem on a slight decline

Have you checked it for oil.
I can stop my roof at any point and it will sit there until safety mechanism cuts in a gravity close or opens it depending on where it is. If it won't close on a hill either sounds like it is low on pressure either low oil, oil leak so allowing air in or pump on way out.
Handbook says only open on level ground... fraid to say I do the same open n close on any incline and have done for 7 years, yet my roof works a treat. Surprised nobody has pontificated about that yet.

No I've not checked it for oil yet. I just learnt were to check yesterday so I will be trying that tonight. Meanwhile I will just stick to the handbook and operate on flat ground.
Thankyou for your advice

Mine pipe went on the passenger side on the joint above rear seat when roof opens you can see it a small bore corrugated black pipe well set of 2. They work the locking mechanism above your head usually drips on the plastics next to quater lite it stinks and stains my lovely (not) beige plastics now have a lighter stains where it was soaked in roof oil.
I kind of know what you mean roof on mine gets 3/4 on then there seems to be a shift in weight as I see my roof sort of bounce is best discription where I think mechanism goes from pushing to breaking the weight I do wonder if a ram is weak or low oil but if it is low oil where has it gone as its a closed system. Even after 7 years of ownership that roof is still quite a mystery to me.

That's exactly how I meant to explain it lol. I've located where you check the oil levels but I'm not sure how to remove the cover as there is the catch for the net attached to it and I'm not sure how it comes off yet. I will have a look on this forum
