A big and a small issue with my Megane 2 CC 1.9dci

Postby XofY » Thu Jan 07, 2016 10:35 pm

Hi good people
I recently (1 month ago) bought Megane 2 CC 1.9dci.. lovin' it: the way it looks and drives.. absolutely superb but.. from day one it plays tricks on me.
First I had a clutch gone, had to raplace it before Xmas. Then today as I've pulled out from home to go to work, realesed that there no 2nd gear in my gearbox and.. ohhh no 4th (or actually is but at the end of a gearstick travel) and no 6th gear and also no revese one too. 1st, 3rd and 5th still there where they've got to be.
Obviously mechanic who's replaced my clutch had to remove a gear box for it and then put it back and by doing so he had to fiddle with gearstick connection to gearbox but I just hope that the problem is simply in cable slid off or something near to it. But just worried that there might be something more than that.. And a small issue with my car.. that I cannot set a time on my stereo as its version without buttons (Carminat with Nav but I haven't got a remote and CD for it hence can't access those features). Do you know if there any other way to set that bloody time? :banghead
ps: still love my little auto but don't know why now coz it decided to stress me out :mad

Meg is good at winding u up...
Carminat sat nav should not require cd to change time and date mine doesn't its in settings 》time and date use the right knob to navigate setting it is a bit annoying as its a 24 hr clock still takes me a couple of goes to get it right.

Right. To set time
Press MENU
then use the OK knob as a wheel and twist clock wise until SETTINGS shows up on the hud (head up diaplay)
Press the OK button to select.
If TIME is not highlited use the ok button as wheel again.
Select TIME by pressing ok button..
You are now setting time it will take a few tries to get it right its 24 hr but a bit confusing to do just remember the ok button turns to select and presses to ok choice.
I didn't insert nav cd and it let me in to the time change ok.
Press the AUDIO button to get by to radio at any time
The C button sends you back a step each time its pressed to exit the nav screen press AUDIO.
Carminat manual is part no.. 820034086.
I will have a look if my map cd will copy tonight. Will let you know.
If not part number is 8200299536.
Not many of these around as it was a £500 upgrade, by the way if you change to a standard meg radio u will have to change hud; connections are different. My hud went AWOL and it cost me about £130 for a new one as the standard hud doesn't fit .
Let u know if it copies ok.

Hi
Thank you very much for your reply and so detailed manual. unfortunaly it didn't work for me. :banghead
When I press menu, a message instantly pops up "Please insert navigation CD" and remains on the hud regardless of any twists of Ok knob or any those 4 buttons within navigation part of a facia. My Nav/Stereo must be faulty one or somthing, I even not sure where the CD will change anything as what Nav CD has got to do with a time.. but that's logically.. lol.. but this is french car and not a german one. Lovely design of some parts but not overall. insn't it?
Never mind I must not suppose to check a time on a screen of my car :-)
I have tryed to press any possible combinations of buttons than also tryed what you've advised me too and nothing in return, so I think it is a time to give up on it. Just hate to give up :-)
At least a gearbox fine and it drives lovely too so looking forward to some warm wheather to take top down
Again thank you

I do find it an odd system I wonder if it has not been used for a while my can be quirky if using menu's I not used for a while for example last summer I wanted to change mls to km that was a bit of fag after 3 attempts it got the jist of what was required. Yet changed it back in seconds!
Also when I choose saved destination for liverpool airport I have to pop in disc 1 which is quite odd as disc 2 is the gb disc its reads it for a second or two and loads the trip reminds me of the old days with windows 98 pcs when ever you wanted to change something in the os you always had to insert the win 98 disc which was glanced at by the os then what ever u where doing was completed. Wonder if this is the same the os wants to make sure u have an origonal disc before making changes. If noy opportunity for renault to make some money.
Tried a standard copy last night but my nav would not read it. Seems I need to make an iso image first then copy to cd will try to crack it then send you a disc . Provided it can be copied.

Yeah, and yet one of the best looking cab for its price/age also drives ok. I have opportunity to drive new VWG, JLR cars on everyday basis and overall impression of ma 10 years old Meg ain't bad.. anyway that's my subjective oppinion. Ofcourse my meg has a lot more issue than just a big and a small ones but they are bearable. 130K on a clock but motor start and runs sweet, little damp inside cos of seals I suppose but going to aplly Dupond Krytox. Somebody suggested that that's a great fixture for seals

Krytox.... expensive but very good I work for a vw dealership and in most case's its helps with the eos tremendously just remember to choose a day u can leave roof off for a few hours a lot of eos owners get it wrong they krytox it and shut it up again you need to leave it a few hours to let the seals swell unhindered.
Mine leaks rear quater lites can't seem to stop it at the mo bit anoying!!! Last year I vasalined all roof seals it was great but come spring 1st time off was quite a struggle as it was stuck with vasaline. Mine is on 130k as well getting a little vibraty now possibly due to cheap ebay topmount. Still working on a useable nav disc

Nav disc 2 is the GB one will write on them but occasionally asks for disc 1.
