Hi guys I have just got a Renault Megane cc 04 but when I try and put the roof down it comes up with roof mechanism fault if i keep pressing it will open the boot and beep again, then it will take the roof part way and beep again, then it will put the roof in the boot and beep again, and that's where it stops I can then close the boot manually but then I have to put the roof back up manually.
Any one any ideas where to start looking?

Re: Roof Mechanism Fault 04
Just to add a little more info. I was playing with the roof today taking it down until it beeps then putting it back up but when I did this it put the catches across before it closed the roof it's like it's out of sync if you know what I mean.
Re: Roof Mechanism Fault 04
Ok found a little more out today, so when I use the button the roof will open and fold into the boot but it stops with warning over the way I just have to close the boot manually as it says there is a fault.
Having a read through the book there's a bit i there with a combination of buttons to press if the roof fails. So i tried it and it opened the boot and closed the roof and the boot so i looks like everything is working if you know what I mean.
As soon as i did the part number I am going to change the micro switch in the top left of the windscreen as there was a similar fault to mine and that fixed it so fingers crossed.

Re: Roof Mechanism Fault 04
this was taken of the Dialogys disc , i have added the drivers /passenger side text , when i need anything from the dealers i ring and give them the part number i am interested in and get them to check its the correct item , save giving reg number and vin plate number as they can go straight to the part diagram and check
Re: Roof Mechanism Fault 04
Thanks, on the hunt for one now.

Re: Roof Mechanism Fault 04
Do you have a list/diagram of where + how many micro switches / sensors for the roof?
Also is there a hydraulic fluid bottle somewhere I can make sure its at the right level?
Thanks
Jonathan

Re: Roof Mechanism Fault 04
I got a price from Renault today for the switch and they wanted £60 + postage
So tonight when i got home from work as it was not raining i decided to remove the switch and go round some breaker yards etc. So i went to put the roof down and just before it normally beeps with the fault i disconnected the switch and the roof went down without fault
so no i know its just that switch at fault.
When i went to remove the switch i noticed the flap was not making contact with the switch so i removed the switch and oiled up the flap refitted the switch making sure it was making contact with the switch AND NOW IT ALL WORKS
I am so chuffed
