gearbox noise

is the gearbox lubricated by the engine oil or does it have its own oil if so how can i check level ,have a bit of a whine/harsh noise when in top ,Diff problems? any ideas

As far as I'm aware gearbox has its own gearbox fluid. I no with my old car it was done from underneath . Take it to local garage , they should be able to tell you if it low.
