Passenger seat back release

I have a bit of a problem with the passenger seat back release when getting into the back. The cable that releases the catch at the bottom of the seat seems to have stretched and you have to be very specific when using it. Is there any way of adjusting it or does it need replacing and if so how much does it cost or can it be done by myself?
