Re: water coming in to car
The II's suffered from incorrectly fitted seals behind the door card, worth having a look there and grommets in the bulkhead where wires etc come through is another good place to check.

You may have this fixed already, but I had also an issue with water ingress in the footwells and collecting in the little floor compartments. This was causing misting and also heater/blower problems. The problem was blocked drainage holes in the guttering at the bottom of the windscreen allowing water to fill up and leak into the car.
I had to remove the windscreen wipers (there is a tool for this) and the guttering cover as well as two panels at each side of the windscreen and then remove the debris and clear out the drainage holes. It's not too complicated to do - can be managed in half an hour if you have the tools.

Yeah I just had this. You could hear water sloshing around! It is an easy job and on mine the wipers came off easily without tools. The nearside one is easy to clear, the drivers side is a little bit trickier as the wiper linkage is over it. Lots of water came out, but I had to drive with towels stuffed into the floor storage bins (and wring them out regularly) for days to soak up the water that made it inside. Funky smell too
