Hi there!
I have checked the FAQ for this issue, but I think it only refers to the MkII rather than MkIII.
Is it possible to enable the electric windows/lights etc without starting the engine? The radio works anyway, but until you start the engine the windows don't work.
I have tried pressing the start button without the clutch/brake but that just makes the dashboard light up. I've tried it with the card in and out of the slot (keyless ignition) but just the same.
It's also the same issue with the lights. I wanted to move my car over Xmas, just let the handbrake off to let it roll down the hill but I couldn't put the lights on without starting the engine.
Cheers.

did you keep holding in the start button if you only gave it a quick press then only the radio would switch on but holding it in should turn all the electrics on

Put it in gear, keep the brake pedal pressed and push the button (with the keycard inside).

This is not sensible! Hold the button for 5 seconds, as mentioned.
