58 megane III trouble? starting.

I have recently purchased a 58 reg megane III 5 door.

It is the 5 door privelige model.

When i press the button to start the car it takes about 3 or 4 seconds to actually fire up (it turns over straight away).

If i press the button, let it turn over for a second then press the button to turn it off, it fires up straight away once i press it again..

I have taken it into my local renault dealer and the cannot find any faults and have reflashed? the ecu to see if that would make a difference (it hasn't)

any ideas before i take it back??

this might sound stupid,but when you first sit in the car and if it was in gear,you put in neutral,right?do you let go of the clutch?mine had same sort of problem awhile back,Renault didn't find anything wrong with it,but I think for some reason this might be the cause.worth a try!

Is your megane a diesel megane?

If so, it sounds like the glow plugs pre-heating then firing the engine. You'll notice it takes a few seconds longer on the very first start of the day, or if the car has been sat for a long time.

no it's a petrol 1.6

Take it to the dealership. It's only 1 year old.
