"MIN." shown in display

Postby tim1 » Mon Apr 18, 2011 8:54 am

Hi all,

About a month ago bought a 2007 Megane II 1.6 16v saloon second-hand from a leasing company. After fixing quite a dismal number of faults (fortunately under the warranty), I'm left with a question:

Occasionally the display shows this:
MIN.
IooooooooooooI

(not sure about the exact number of o's but you get the idea...)

I have no idea what this means. That status doesn't show up in the manual, or any searches I've done online. I've checked oil and water, and everything seems fine. It shows "Oil level correct" when I start the car. I could take it to the local Renault garage, but frankly I've seen more than enough of them over the past few weeks!

Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

Cheers,
Tim.

it should be talking about the oil level. park up on a level surface and do a manual check with the dipstick

Ray is correct and his advice should be followed.

Worry when it looks like this:

|oo_________|

It's a crap design - the old one made much more sense. It is in the handbook though......
Silver 08 plate 5dr 1.5dci Dynamique 106 Tech Run (re-mapped)

Red 03 plate 5dr 1.9 Dynamique dci120

Best advice for Megane owners: sell it before it bankrupts you!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Strange thing is that the manual makes no mention of this display at all. Sigh...

This message would not normally come up on it's own. When you start the car the OIL OK message comes on screen for several seconds. While it still says OIL OK press the little black pin which is in the instrument surround, now you should get the |ooooooooooooooooo| display. Maybe your pin is stuck down?
Either way a manual check is always best as already stated.
