Security sytem tones?

Postby jo3yb777 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 5:07 pm

My megane has a never ending beep the moment I push the button on the door handle, any ideas what this could be. If I pull the handle then lock it again, the beep goes away. The beep sounds like its coming from the rear wheel arch/

Also i've noticed on some occasions, when I lock the vehicle, it beeps twice. Any idea how to make this happen every time I lock it as it is quite useful?

Thanks in advance

single continuous beep usually means something is blocking a sensor.

The continuous beep is i think to warn you if a door/boot is not closed properly. Mine does it regularly when i overfill the boot with workstuff. Stops if i open boot and slam it harder :?

The sensors come as a pair (transmitter and receiver) and cost just over £20. The alarm control box is in the boot behind the left-hand side carpet. You will need to remove the left-hand parcel shelf bracket and boot light to gain access.
In the meantime, disable the sensors by switching off the engine and then pressing the start button 5 times within 10 seconds before getting out of the car and locking it. The hazard lights will flash twice and you will hear 3 or 4 beeps to let you know that the volumetric sensors are turned off. You will need to go through this procedure every time you lock the car until you replace the missing sensor.

Mine has been snapped off for about a year and a bit now. No battery drain, and alarm hasn't sounded once in the car's life until I decided to test it by leaving a window open and opening a door from the inside.

Well all?

I had a window motor fault that caused a few extra electric gremlins. All is sorted now, everything is grand. One after effect that i am happy about is the alarm system now beebs, twice on locking, once on unlocking. I know can walk away and without looking and know the car is locked... my question is how did this come about? It didnt happen before the problem.

Regards

P

it does say somewhere in this form that its a sensor at fault, the beeping noise is teling you that somethink aint shut ie , doors/boot but that could be down to the sensors
