I have a 54 plate megane 1600 16v and have major problems
It all started with me having a water leak in to the drivers door pocket
Which led to the window going down when deadlocking
Then I lost auto lights and auto wipers and now I have a very bad misfire
When I scanned car with bosch kts it came up with 68 faults
Inc cruise control (doesn't have it) and tpms (doesn't have that )

I have changed the spark plugs and coil packs but to no prefail
I feel like I'm losing the battle and thinking about scrapping the car
But its a lot of money to throw away

PLEASE HELP

Thanx

You have my sympathy but none of your problems are uncommon. I have seen fairly recent posts on all of the problems you are having. From memory the water in the door pockets is solved by sealing around the speakers and I was reading about someone with the window problem only yesterday so it can only have cropped up in the last week. The misfire is also common. Do a search.

Has anyone mentioned your camshaft sensor? I don't think it's a very expensive part but if you search the term 'dephaser' you'll find that this, on the other hand, is a potentially serious and expensive problem. Some members advise that if you have to get the camshaft sensor done then it is worth having the dephaser pulley changed at the same time. At least you would only be paying the labour once. It might seem drastic if the dephaser hasn't failed but, since you are seriously considering scrapping the car, you might consider the cost worthwhile.

Peewak,

Let's start with the beginning. What is the history of the car?

haven't you seen the common issues..all yours are in there :-)

how bad is the missfire..when does it happen ?
if it was a cam sensor or TDC sensor then id expect to see the engine mgmt light on.
if youve changed all 4 plugs and pencil coils...and checked the electrical connections are ok etc then next steps might be to look at dirty fuel injector ? try adding some fuel injection cleaner to your petrol.

Thanx for all the replys guys

From the beginning car was running great then I started to get water in the drivers door pocket
Then lost one touch windows .
Parked it up and deadlocked it via button on door handle and the window went down.
After getting it up I lost auto headlight and auto wipers. I've done a hard reset but that done nothing.
I now have a very bad misfire and engine management light Flases on then goes out for a few seconds then flashes on again.

For how long do you own it? My concern is that it can be a dodgy buy.

Now then its more than likely you have water in the UCH causing all these problems.

Ive never done it myself but you need to access the UCH and attempt to dry it out. Search the forum for advice on doing this until someone like AlexB comes on and can help you further.

i spoke to a well known diag. bloke who i know and he (and somebody else as well) told me that i should remove the upc (or is it the uch) from next to the battery, take it indoors and remove the covers to check for water ingress. so that`s what i did,and..........BINGO. not a lot of the stuff, but any is obviously too much! one of these blokes told me that he had successfully dried out one of these previously and had had no further probs. now obviously this depends on the amount of ingress/damage,but it`s got to be worth a go has`nt it? so that`s what i`m doing at the moment, but you can`t dry it too fast with direct heat (can damage the chip/processors), and you can`t dry it too slow because that could cause oxidisation(if it`s not already there). it was really easy to remove+split apart, now i`ve got it drying out nicely (i hope),and will get a good quality electrical cleaner(servisol) tomorrow and give it a good clean using a toothbrush.
if it comes to having to buy a new unit, then that`s what i`ll have to do,but at least i`ll know i`ve tried to fix it,and it may work for someone else on here if theirs is`nt too far gone!

well i`ve put it all back together and it seems (touch wood) to have been a success up to yet,so i would advise any one on here who has any concerns regarding this or any electrical/spooky goings on to either check this unit yourself or get it checked before it`s too far gone.mine looked absolutely dry until i removed and inspected it. it may or may not be a common problem, but it must be worth checking, especially for us that have no warranty!
