Postby benny_bo_bo » Thu Mar 12, 2009 2:19 pm

i havent long had my megane, and since i have had it the dash rattles, i know all renaults have there rattle but is there any fix for this???
i believe i have sauced the problem to the heater pipes coming in to the matrix in the dash.
does anyone else have this problem or have fix it?
many thanks for all your time.

had a strange issue some days ago, very similiar to what you descripe.I would check the filler cap for the A/C in the passenger compartment. When its loose it can create(in my case)rattling noises near the pipes and in the middle of the dashboard.
Also check the dehydration canister(bottle) in the wheelbase on the r/h,if its loose!

Hi Benny,

Is it a rattle or a cricket (plastic rubbing on plastic noise) you hear? Are you sure it's the matrix?

I had one rattle only -- in the sealing around the mirror. A piece if kitchen sponge cured it. A few crickets were gone upon spraying the edge between the dash and the windscreen with silicone. More crickets were killed with the same spray applied to the covers of the dash, clock and around the shelf under the radio. The trickiest was the one in the right corner of the windscreen. I borrowed a toy mouse from my cats and stuck it there -- enjoyng piece and quiet since.

Hi mate,

Just put my 57 meg Gt in to reno for dash rattle. Problem now solved it says on the job sheet:

Lubricate dash upper seal

Mine was worse when cold then when car warmed up it would do it over bumpy roads.

Hope this helps.

It was a cricket, not a rattle. These are killed by lubrication of the mating surfaces. The beak over the dash is removed by pulling it towards the driver and the shield of the clock is pulled upwards for removal. Then lubricate the mating surfaces with silicone grease/spray.

Rattle under the car -- check the heat shield. It is made of thin aluminium and bends easily.

have to back alex up on this one-

all rattles in my car eliminated with halfords silicone spray- my dash sounds more solid now than my friends 2008 R26 megane!!!

try spraying this in suspected areas/casings first....
