I went to start my tonight and it won't start again! on the dash it says "steering locked" and the service light is on. I'm bloody sick of this car. anyone got any idea why it's doing this? I'm going to take the battery off and give it 10min see ifthat clears it.

tried wiggling the steering wheel as you press start?
If not, new electric steering column likely needed - not cheap either! Needs coding to the electronics.

I hope it is just a dud battery.. much cheaper than a new electric steering lock! let us know the outcome - good luck!

glad it was "just" the battery! If it happens again, hopefully tracing the drain on the battery or checking to see if its the battery at fault (you never know!) will be easy!
What happened to your iPhone?

will having the key close the car cause the battery to drain? I parked slighly closer to the house yesterday and it didnt move all day. how would i go about tracing battery drain?
The iphone decided it only wanted to be on the contacts list. would ring people no bother so i held the home button and the power button and it went to a white screen that wouldnt go off

i connected it upto itunes and did a restore and its working great again now.

You must have put it into DFU mode accidentally. Did you keep the home button pressed after releasing the power button?

hackint0sh.org wrote:The big difference between DFU mode and restore mode?:
DFU mode doesn't boot up the "mac os" on iPhone - therefore it doesn't communicate with iTunes "as much" as in Restore mode and iTunes can't decide to interrupt downgrading the firmware etc.!!
