Fuel tank flap....

Postby mp1963 » Sat Mar 07, 2009 9:09 am

Greeings people!

Following on from a nice lady reversing into the driver side back door of my Megane DCI hatchback, the geniuses who repaired the damage on behalf of the insurance company, have left me with a fuel tank flap that is no longer flush with the body work. They say they tried to get it to fit but gave up. As it stands the flap is protruding above the body line at the front and is flush with the body at the back. It does lock with the rest of the car. I have removed the two star bolts and tried to move the fuel tank flap assembly but got nowhere. Does anyone have any idea how I can put this thing back so my car looks normal again ?

Many thanks

Marek

I have just noticed that my fuel flap is the same... flush at the back and protruding slightly at the door end. Have a look at another megane if possible.

I have looked at numerous other meganes and they have all had fuel flaps that are flush with the bodywork.. might have to resort to talking to Renault :(

Go back to insurance company and refuse it. Just because you accepted it doesn't mean you are fully happy with it. Tell the insurance after looking at other Meganes you've realised it shouldn't be like that.

I've checked mine and it doesn't sit flush either. Its the original item, never been taken off or replaced. I've never really noticed it before, however there doesn't seem to be any means of realigning or adjusting it :-(
