ABS and Service Light On

I'm hoping my suspicions are correct and someone can confirm this for me, yesterday while parked the ABS and Service light came on (actual 'SERVICE' light, not the spanner) and as it states the ABS isn't working any more. I suspect this just means the brakes need replaced, but was wanting to confirm this with anyone. If it's something possibly more serious then i'm gonna have to scrimp the pennies together. My MOT is due in a week and it has been running perfectly fine, even with the ABS and Service light on it's still fine.

thanks for your help

I am sure I have seen posts like this before, some where because of the loose connection under the drivers seat,if I am right (worth checking).

hope this helps 8)

Think the one under the drivers seat is usually the airbag light. I can't seewhy they would route brake warnings under the seat( although it is Renault we're talking about) ;) . I could be wrong though.

i think the wire under the seat is something do with pre-tensioners that is linked to the airbag circuit

Each wheel has an ABS sensor. It is likely that one of them became disconnected or damaged. This has nothing to do with worn discs or pads.
