Injection Warning Light

Postby chrisd59 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 2:46 pm

Megane 1.9dci Sports Tourer Diesel, June 2006

Hi,

I have had the fuel recirculation light (the catalytic cleanup thing) come on 2 days ago, and only had the chance today to run the car for 20 minutes at 50mph as prescribed in the book. Just before going for the run today the spanner also lit up with "check injection" also. After running the car the cat light has gone out but the check injection warning and spanner is still lit. The book says take to Renault immediately but, being Saturday afternoon in South Wales, there is no garage open. Does anyone know whether the cat warning and injection warning are linked, should I not drive the car, how dangerous is it to the injectors?

I had the dump valve fail on an megane scenic II in France a few years back, but this time there's no loss of speed or power and no cutting out as happened that time.

Any advice gratefully recieved.

So far you were abusing the FAP filter and not the injectors. I don't have a FAP, but I would imagine it is very expensive. Your engine does not have a wastegate -- there is a variable geometry turbocharger. There is a chance that the warning came as you failed to regenerate the FAP in the set time/mileage interval after the first warning. I don't know if proper regeneration is possible after the second warning. I hope you drove today for significantly longer than 20 minutes with the average speed significantly exceeding 50mph on the cleanest available fuel...

Hi,

The active regeneration filter light has now gone out so I guess that has cleaned itself. However, the spanner is still illuminated and the check injection light still on. How safe is the car to use and is injection fault covered by warranty?

I just discovered another thread on this subject. Webcode, being a professional, knows better what to do in your case.

Hi,
On speaking to the RAC today, their guy advised me (after speaking to their technical staff) not to drive it but to go to Renault tomorrow morning. The FAP filter light has also come on again - wonder how long this is going to take to sort out and how much they will try and sting me. Hopefully the warranty should cover it.
I'll post an update as soon as I hear anything.

Chris
