The bearing has been fitted the wrong way round..

It is an "Active" ABS bearing and MUST be fitted the correct way or as you have found there will be no speed sensor signal....

everything work inc the spedo.

so woud this jsut mean a reset?? because the ABS cable was disconnected and the ECU registered a fault?? (fault - dissconnected ABS cable)

i think what webcode means is that the new bearing has been put in the wrong way round ie. back to front, and the speed sensor that he mentions is the wheel speed sensor (abs sensor),and this takes it`s reading from a set place in the bearing,so the bearing being the wrong way round means the pick up point is out of alignment. hope this makes sense.
bearing needs to come back out and be turned around (if it can be done without damaging it ) :(

i was there when the guy put it in. The magnetic face was inbound as per the instructions. with the metal connection clip (to the sensor) inbound too.

:(
hope its not the wrong way round!!

SO

if i get teh ecu to rest...then if the lighht comes on again, then I will know tis the wrong way round....right??

Connect the Diagnostic equipment..

Access the ABS computer.. go the the wheel speed indicators.. move the vehicle forward and you should get a speed reading off each wheel.. If there in no speed indicated on the repaired one then you have a problem..

It could be as I said above the bearing being pressed in the wrong way round, a defective or incorrect bearing, the sensor has been damaged (they are fragile)..

Note that the Abs system is designed to "auto-reset" as long as the speed signals from each wheel are present. So if you unplug a sensor for example the Abs light will illuminate. Plug it back in, the system will selftest, if it "see's" the sensor then the light will extinguish but the fault will be "stored" as a Historical DTC..
