Now this might be possibly the stupidest question asked on here but bear with me.
I am planning to change the oil on my 1.9dci and just wondering where does fresh oil go in?
Have had a good look and only place i can see is the dipstick hole. Is this right? I know size isn't everything but seems to me getting almost 5 litres in there could take a while

Re: oil filler
Hello, yes you do put it down the dipstick hole. You have to pour it slowly (it takes a while !) and once you have about 4 litres in it, then wait about 5-10 minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Then you can start it up, check the level once it has run up, and then add more if required. Hope this helps, regards Damian.

Re: oil filler
Or pull the rubber pipe of the righthand side of the oil seperator (where the dipstick is) ensuring that the other end is still attached to the block.. Fill through the pipe directly into the sump. You won't have to wait to check the level..
That is the recommended way of doing it at the dealership..

Re: oil filler
i used a home made funnel (pop bottle turned upside down with the bottom cut off) had it filled up quite quickly.

Re: oil filler
Well changed the oil today and apart from the satisfaction of doing it myself i think from now on it'll be going in to a garage. Yet another job made difficult by Renault

Re: oil filler
how did you find it hard mate? hardest bit i found was getting at the oil filter, but once i had the chain round it it was no bother.

Re: oil filler
yep that oil filter was put there by same guy that designed the headlight change method. I dint have a chain as i foolishly thought the adjustable wrench i had would do the job. It did in the end but so tight to get in there.
Also filled it before reading webcodes post and not good through the dipstick hole it kept backing up so you had to put it in really slow.
Never again i think.
