I have a megane 1.6 vvt 06.
Just a slight problem...When i sometimes do a full lock and then start to move back the other way, there is a very slight notch,,but it doesnt happen all the time.
Ive tried moving the steering back and forwards hard and there doesnt seem to be any knocking or anything. So i dont think its the rack or anything.
To be honest, its hardly noticable, but i thought i would mention it
I wanted to check the fluid,,i removed the left plastic covers, but its not like my old megane,i cant find the reserviour.
Can anyone give a little on this.
Other than that i think its really good,,its my second megane,,my other was an R reg RT classic,,which was good
thanks again

Re: Steering
The steering in the MegII is electric and not hydraulic,so that is why you will not find the reservoir.
the ABS and EBD are very sensitive in the MegII,so may be some times when you drive on uneven road such that one of the wheels is not on the same level as the other, the ABS&EBD kicks in and it feels like a kick in the steering coloumn keep this in mind when you feel the notch it might help.

Re: Steering
If you feel the knock originating from the upper part of the steering column it could be the airbag clockspring mechanism (or 'rotary switch') behind the steering wheel which is on its way out...
Not an uncommon problem...
