Question about petrol fuel pump

I have a question about the Megane's petrol fuel pump, located in the fuel tank of the car.

I had an random intermittent stalling problem along with occasional kangarooing in high gears that I could not pinpoint. No error codes were stored in the ECU.

I had planned a trip so not wanting to have the Megane break down in the middle of nowhere I took my dad's car for the trip.

Right before I left, I replaced the MAP sensor with a used one I had laying around and asked my dad to drive the car and check for problems while I was away.

He drove the car around town and also filled it up with gas (my car is usually at 1/4 on the fuel level gauge). He reported no problems with the car.

Now that I'm back I have given the Meggie a good trashing and it hasn't played up for a week...

So its either the replaced MAP sensor that fixed it or the fact that my dad filled up the car with gas.

And my question to you is, could the MAP sensor be at fault and throw up no error codes? Also, does the fuel pump 'prefer' a full gas tank to an empty one?

My fuel gauge right now reads almost 1/2 full, and still the car does not exhibit any symptoms... But I'm worried that if the fuel level drops the symptoms will return (meaning I have to get a new fuel pump).

A Renault mechanic I talked to said that the most common initial symptom of fuel pump failure is extreme loss of power/juddering while on the motorway which goes away after the pump is left to cool off.

However I have taken long trips without problem. The cutting out would only occur at idle, when waiting at a traffic light for example...
