Poor FM Radio reception

Hi all,

just got myself a high miler '05' 1.5 DCi Megane II Expression 'Sports Tourer' off Ebay

very happy overall but the radio is driving me mad - I'm getting poor to no FM reception during my M3 commute.

I get the Beeb stations at times but only - I'm guessing - when I'm close to a local transmitter. Seems to be poor reception generally, if I'm close to a transmitter then I get the stations else doodly-squat or rough reception :(

had a look at the twig aerial and it's not corroded and is firmly screwed down. Had the radio out - and removed the Bury hands free kit that was clagged into the Radios ISO connectors - and all connectors look fine, aerial firm etc and still poor reception.

any body know of any tests I can run to check either the aerial signal 'quality' into the radio or to check the radio tuner itself?

here's hoping.

might be the inside of the antenna - it was all wet and rotted there with my car after 4 yrs.....I got myself a new Antenna from my Renault dealer at 20 Pounds which is reasonable....to replace it you have to lower the rear end of the inner roof cover and the rear right inside cover to the right of the boot door....no big deal. the antenne cable runs from the radios back to under that cover and is there connected to the short cable leading to the antenna. difficult to explain, but if you want some self explaining pics on how to do it let me know....
