Not the fan belt loose and slipping is it? If when fan cuts in it slips the fan won't be going round therefore engine overheating. Slipping fan belts make a hell of a screeching noise!!

How do you know there is no compression?
Does it attempt to fire?
Any warning lights?

There is no "Fan belt" as the cooling fan is electric..

iv had a few cambelts go on few of my cars in the past and when i turned it over it sounded like them, what im thinking now is either the waterpumps gone thats mabay what the noise was or the headgaskets gone or mabey the cam belt tensioner has packed in and snapped the belt,if its the belt and its bent the valves what sort of price we talking to fix it,will it be easier to get a 2nd hand engine

I hope he is going to do a compression check first? and/or check the condition of the cambelt?
