Hi guy's,
Had my 04 Megane now for a few weeks and loving every minute of it. Whilst cleaning it at the weekend I spotted that one of the front fog light lenses is actually upside down, the give away is the word TOP embossed into the glass upside down and at the bottom!
I've tested the bulbs and found that the light beam from the upside down side is actually pointing to the sky (this was tested on my drive and not whilst driving around!). So, is there a simple way to remove the foglight and refit in the correct mannor without taking off the bumper?
Also, whilst testing the fog lights decided to check all bulbs etc (shouldn't have been an issue as brought with full 12 month MOT a few weeks ago) but found the headlights are masively out! The nearside is pointing at the ground directly in front and the offside appears to be the correct. Can these be adjusted manually easily?
Cheers
Rob

for access to the foglights you might try to get to them by removing the underfloor engine cover, but I think you only can see them. much easier is to remove the front bumper....like so:

Text is in german, but the pictures should give enough information.
As for the headlights, the up down allignment is done with two screws you can reach through holes in that black front metal bar on top of the lights, when you open the bonnet. check the above link, pic 1, the two holes above the exclamation mark...
there is also a way of aligning them left right, but I do not know where that is.
my tip is: have them adjusted at your service dealer and then mark the light imprints on your garage door or wall. if you always park in the same spot this is an easy way of checking the alignment of the lights after changing bulbs etc.

Re: Front Fog Light Removal and head light alignment
Thanks for the information, my German is next to none but I work in an international helpdesk with plenty of german speakers so will persuade them to translate for me. The pictures are very clear though, so should be able to figure this out.
I have a nice MOT garage around the corner from my house, that happen to have a white wall with guide markings for light beam pattern which can be used by anyone (it's an outside wall and there is a nice kerb to rest the front wheels against) so will try and sort the headlight myself using their wall and then ask nicely for them to check it's all in legal limits.
As for the fog light, I might just take it back to the garage I brought it from and ask them to sort that one out!

Re: Front Fog Light Removal and head light alignment
you're welcome. should there be words you can't translate just let me know.
As for the foglights, I also would have them done by the professionals

Re: Front Fog Light Removal and head light alignment
I also find as an aid to doing the headlamps pop a 8mm allen key into one of the lamp adjusters (its white hex with a cross cut in the allen key will sit in it without falling out), stand with your back to the car in front of the other headlamp with your legs against it to (wear jeans) shield its light and adjust, anti clockwise will lift beam, clockwise to lower, then do the other then move legs away from light to check if done right that both are pointing at right level, oh and dont worry about getting the part of the beam that goes up at an angle to match (up to left on Right hand drive up to right for left hand drive) as at close range in front of wall you will not get them to match as they are set to converge at a longer range. if the garage has lines marked with % marks you want the 0.1% Last time i did this was in the scotch corner car park and takes seconds
Bumpy and full of coconuts.
