The Mégane II Owners' Club

i did a bit of work on the meg at weekend,new fr. discs + pads,checked all bearings and suspension joints etc, and i`ve found a bit of freeplay in the steering rack at the o/s track arm (inside the gaiter)
can anyone tell me if this is adjustable before i waste my time pulling the gaiter off and if so,is it a matter of shims etc.
or is a new rack the order of the day?
