Jacking point problem

Postby louiserd » Sat May 31, 2008 1:33 pm

Hi
I know where they are but I have never seen such 'angled' points, is there a special conversion wedge or similar to allow jacking? I made something to hold the car like a wedge but I am not trusting it enough, why are the jacking points not flat? Has anybody found a way around this?

Thanks
Paul

The jack supplied with the car is a perfect fit, though it is a real bu88er to get out of that lump of expanded polystyrene.

For changing a wheel at the roadside maybe, but not for maintenance unfortunately. Maybe I'll have another look at it and see if I can model something from it..Hmm.

I've used a trolley jack on the jacking points without any issue, just got to ensure it has a good grip.
The haynes manual actually says use a trolley jack on the subframe (at the rear directly underneath the rear spring, difficult to make out in the photo where this is at the front) and then use axle stand under the jack points, it also says if your not removing the wheels then best to use ramps.

Yeah, but with the modern front ends, you need to remove the bumper before you can drive up a set of ramps :(

I used my ramps without any problem last time I changed the oil, there was plenty of clearance, mind you this is on a standard megane, not sure about the sportier ones.
