Turbo problem???

Would you believe it... picked up '57' plate 1.5 106 with 5000 miles on the clock on Saturday.
Accelerating in traffic on way home (less than an hour later), loud pop and loss of acceleration. Great clouds of black smoke from behind and loud wooshing sound from under the bonnet when turbo meant to be delivering power over 2000rpm.
Figured this to be a turbo problem but don't know how serious (loose pipe to intercooler or blown turbo). Car currently being towed by AA back to dealership for repair.
Any suggestions anyone?

Only suggestion i'd have is get everything done on the warranty and kick up an almighty fuss and see what you can get out of them in the way of freebies.

If the pipes/intercooler are intact and the turbo is blown, then there should be no "whooshing noise"... So it might be the other way round. Still, a big question is what caused something to blow?

Car returned and one happy owner...
Apparently one of the pipes connected to the intercooler blew off - hence no compressed air getting to the turbo.
Have no idea why this happened - can't be bothered to ask the garage as I doubt that they would know or give me an homest answer.
Only thought is an incomplete repair after a front end impact or something disturbed when the starter motor was 'allegedly' changed prior to delivery.
