creaky dash

Postby deafo1 » Sat May 17, 2008 11:57 am

hi, i have a 1.5 deisel dynamique that has an irratating creaking noise at low speeds coming from the dash' in the location of the instrument panel / air vent at the drivers side. when pressure is applied to the cover over the dials the noise reduces but the noise is still present when this cover is removed.
Any ideas ?

regards Nev

I had this on my 05 1.5 dCi Megane diesel.

If I remember correctly it was a known reognised problem that was rectified by RCS.

Mine was particulary noisy during the colder months where the plastic dash would shrink slightly. During the summer it wsnt a problem.

When I took mine in for repair they squirted some form of silicon lubricant where the front screen meets the dashboard. Stank like anything for a few hours, but OK after that.

If you gently remove the instrument binnacle hood (pull it forwards and upwards at the same time, slowly!) you can then use window draft excluder foam to pack out the contact points on the hood/dash, worked a treat on mine.

if an area of mine rattled ..ie the radio display/clock housing i sprayed it with silicone lubricant from halfords..worked wonders eventually!!!!....but i could see gaps in the plastic housing to aim into..not sure if you could do the same with the location of your rattle...

Mine is doing the same. I took it in 2 weeks ago and the dealer said they took it all apart and found a relay that had come away from its mounting which they put back. It was great for about 10 miles until it started making a noise again. Its now worse than ever, I intend to take it back again but don't have any faith in the dealer at all (5 attempts to fix a leaking roof!!) I will be trying to sort it myself if they can't so defo interested to here how others have sorted it.
