Air filter change

Postby xcz_megane » Thu May 15, 2008 11:55 am

Just changed the air filter on my megane, however there is now a slight low rumbling noise when you accelerate through 3rd gear and up. I can only really compare the sound to the sort you get off the exhaust of modified cars with mufflers (i think thats what they are). Any info/tips? thanks

Have you got everything back together correctly?
Sounds like you might need to check the filter is fitted correctly and that the air box is sealed and secure?
Make improvements, not excuses!

Spot on IainMW, shoddy workmanship on my part, I hadnt put the compartment back in tightly enough and air was escaping. I took the whole thing apart and did it again and its running great! thanks!

I see a great future working as a renault technician for you xcz. £150 for changing the air filter then £80 for diagnostic when the car came back in, plus a 2nd repair bill for a fault totally unrelated to the air filter, give them a ring i'll give you a reference
