Hi, not sure if this will help but worth a try.

As you'll know all cars now are full of computers, and the Meg is no wxeption including a HCU (not sure what it stands for) but i am under the impresion this may have somthing to do with the locking.
So like all computers they like a reboot now and then, I would suggest disconcet the battery and leave for 30 mins. then reconect and the car will reboot as it were.

Also when I had my car at an inderpendent dealer he showed me a trick, with out pressing the break or clutch to start the car press and hold the start/stop buton for about 10 seconds this also reboots some systems.

Hope this help. 8-)

Thanks for that I will give it a try. I had my car serviced a few months ago and had to take it back to have the engine managment light turned off and that seems to be when the problems started do you think this could be a factor?.
