Electrical issues - fuses?

Postby tempo* » Mon Apr 28, 2008 1:38 pm

Gday

I have a couple of issues wuth my 05 megane. Hope someone can help we with a solution.

List of problems (which I beleive to all be related:

- Cig lighter not working = no tom tom, or Ipod :cry
- Air con and heated rear windscreen not functioning
- Radio/CD doesnt turn off when engine stops/door is opened
- Radio/CD doesnt start up when entering (as it used to do)
- Radio/CD times out (and switches itself off) every 20 mins when driving

I have looked at the fuses and tried to insert new ones, particulaly into the gap where the cig lighter fuse should go - however its a if there isnt meant to be one there at all - it wont hold a new one in place.

Any suggestions would be great - this is driving me nuts!

:cry

All those are based on one fuse so it should be your problem (have you got any cause of short circuit in your 12v socket or used a faulty plug before?). The fuse map isn't very clear, check them all :)

Thanks - as i suspected.

I have noticed that the metal housing of the 12v socket is loose - so might need to check this out. Superglue ?????????????

Can anyone tell me which fuse I should be looking at - is it the 15amp one on the left hand row?

Could they make the fuse box any harder to get at!!

Shouldn't be that, it can be loose, it has a plug in underneath (can lift the gaiter by just lifting carefully the plastic ring and reaching underneath). It's usually a rubbishy 12v plug that causes it. Without going to look I can't tell you but if you use the tweezers you can pull out each one and check which i blown, 15a sounds right.
