Parking Brake woes

Hi all,
I'm new to the site, found out about it while searching for any info on my current problem. I bought an 03 1.9DCi Dynamic in August 07 and mostly love the car, even the rendom electrics haven't upset me much, but my parking brake is driving me mad. When I bought the car the brake needed pulled up quite far before working, needless to say I asked the dealer to fix it which they duly did, then 3 weeks ago I had a total parking brake failure, happened to be near a local Quickfit and asked them to take a look, they said they couldn't do anything as they were unable to get the cables as the car was too new????
Anyway tracked down the cables myself and took the car to another garage who fixed the problem, apparently the cables "fell out of their housing"?? and it was a matter of popping them back in again and tightening things up a bit, now i've just had another failure!!!!!
Has anyone else experianced this problem? Any suggestions for a longer term solution would be greatly appreciated don't really fancy paying £40 every 2 -3 weeks to sort out brakes!!
