My tyres are v. noisy!

They will need replacing soon as the tread is close to the limit.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

Kumho, I don't remember the exact product number but they are way better than the Conti's and much cheaper, if you do a search for Kumho you'll find lots of posts. I've just had some Kumhos fitted on the front of the OHs Modus (she had a puncture on one of the backs so I had both backs done a while ago), they are about half the price of Contis and yet are much better ....... go figure

Plus the wall is squarer and the tread pattern is nicer imo, I shouldn't say things like that in front of the OH as she tells me I'm sad and that "it's a tyre" with a scornfull look on her face but I have OCD as far as detailing goes so every bit helps

Autoexpress tyre test will give you actual experimental results on tyre noise.

Michelin tyres pilot primacy extra load. Very painful when you buy it but on our Clio it lasted over 30 000 miles. So it is worth it in the end. (Unless you get a puncture)

Shop around the web plenty of sites black circles, tyreshopper and etyres spring to mind. I used tyreshopper last year and would certainly recommend them. Price included fitting and balancing and they send you to a centre near you. Mine were fitted at National Tyres where same tyres would of been much more expensive.

I have Michelin tyres pilot primacy on my Megane GT DCi, and I have done 19k miles so far. My next door neighbour is a tyre fitter and has had a look at them and thinks based on the remaining tread and even wear pattern I should get 25K out of them!!

It' all comes down to your budget and personal choice, take advice and don't automatically dismiss so called "budget brands" as these can be very good, and are often manufactured by the big names, Barum = Continental &Tigar = Michelin etc...

I can personaly say that I did not like the Goodyears I had on my Megane; slippy in the wet but quiet with a reasonable wear rate.
The Laguna's got Michelins on which are very good alround but give a hard ride, probably because they are Extra Load?

The set of Goodyears that were on mine when I bought it were all right. When it came time to change them the first time I went with Bridgestones and was very very happy with them. They literally stuck to the road. I had to do a high speed lane change due to an out of control Civic and in doing so avoided an accident that featured on the six o'clock news. What noise did the tyres make when I raked on the steering wheel at 120 kph?

I've got Firestones on at the minute. Can't rave about them but can't complain either as they haven't let me down.

Falken are fairly cheap for a performance tyre. I have ZE 512's fitted to my 17" 'summer wheels' which are on offer from Camskill at the moment at £49 each.

Have got Michelin Primacy tyres on my 17" Nervasports, good grip wwet and dry, and they are lasting much better than the Conti`s it came with. Verdict - Not cheap, but worth it !!

It is not a performance tyre, as it maximises the comfort metric at the expense of wet performance. Looks like they used a cheap rubber compound. See

I could not find the tyre in question in your link.
The language is Autobahn, we already discussed it in the past, and yes, I know that foreign languages (including Holiday, Scottish, Welsh and Queen's) are uncool as opposed to normal English with Geordie accent... I am trying to become normal in this sense, but it is not easy as English is not my first language. Anyway, if anyone is still reading this gibberish, Altavista translator might help.
To your question regarding cheapness. I guess, if a tyre is cheap and bad in wet and strongly not recommended by Autobahn people for use on their autobahns, then it is probably a cheap tyre. It's not the best definition, is it?
On a serious note, each tyre is designed for a certain application and for certain conditions. This one is not for the UK climate, I am afraid. It is a personal opinion, of course.
