Glove box trim scratched

Postby John Pickles » Sat Apr 12, 2008 7:38 am

Hi,
I picked up my new 08 plate Megane Tech Run on Monday. I'm very pleased so far, but when I got home I noticed a scratch on what I would describe as the silver trim on the top leading edge at the front of the glove compartment. It's deep enough to show through to the black plastic underneath. I certainly didn't cause the damage as no one has sat in the front passenger seat. I reported it to the dealer who asked me to take it back for them to look at. One twenty mile round trip and a promise that they 'would get back to me later' and I've heard nothing.
I know it's only minor cosmetic damage but wondered just how difficult this is going to be to get fixed. Are there any Renault techs who know it this is going to be a big job? The trim looks like a part separate from the actual glove compartment and I would hope it's just a matter or clipping a new bit of trim on. Or is it going to be a matter of replacing the whole glove compartment door?
I'd be grateful for any advice before I ring the dealer on Monday to chase them up.

Cheers
John

Hy John dont worry too much, when you chase them ask how long it will take, if the length of time they need it will cause you problems ask for a courtesy car ( a word of warning my dealer requires you to get covered fully comp on your insurance to drive their motor and some insurance companies will charge, if not they will cover you for a £10 a day fee on their insurance), my local dealer will also drop you off at home or work and pick you up when the car is ready which is graet for one day jobs.

You are a valued customer as you have bought new insist on the best from them.

I know all dealers are different, but when we bought our Megane, there was a flaw in the plastic on the tachometer surround (looked like a black dot that you could wipe off, but on closer inspection was actually a minor moulding fault)

Dealer changed it over at the first service without any problem - I believe the instrument cluster had to be removed to do the deed...
