parcel shelf

Everytime i close my boot, my parcel shelf always seems to fall down and never fits snug like it should do, so i then have to lean over from inside the car to lift it back up. Does any1 else have the same problem?

Is it located properly in the lugs?

ye, i put in properly befor i close the boot, yet it still slides down.

i take it when you close the boot it pops of the lugs,
have a look at the shelf and rear of seats, may find it is catching,
wifes was doing it one side (passenger side) I grabbed a torx bit and undid the two bolts holding the plastic bit that has the lug and removed it, on the passenger side it also has the boot light be careful when pulling it out (needs a little pull), you will see once its off a locating spigot close to the screw nearest rear seats, also note the plastic slots that the two screws go into, as they are slotted you have a bit of room to play with i refitted the panel but fitted it further away from the rear seats, it has stopped it popping off, but i will be adjusting it a bit as the shelf is now a little to far back guess its a bit of trail and error

Hi, guys!

1) When you say the parcel shelf is located on the lugs - have you given the shelf a good push, so it Clicks, and is not just resting on the lugs?? (Yes, I know you have - sorry, sorry, just thought I'd ask the blindingly obvious!!)

2) If you work thru the Tech Spec of any Meg Hatch model on the Renault website, it proudly says: '2 position rear parcel shelf'. Where the heck is the 2nd position?? In the garage???? Neither of mine have had a 2nd position that I've ever found - unless it's on & off the lugs!!! (see above). Anyone any idea?? [PS - it also says in the handbook: "on no account put anything on the rear parcel shelf"!! Wonder how it came to be named 'parcel shelf', then? And what are those thoughtful depressions for??]

two positions? all i can think of is
position 1 flat when boot closed,
postion 2 angled up when boot opened,
of course you have some more options,
position 1 with boot open undo the string clips
and of course the out of the car propped up against the garage wall position

oh forgot the dam thing come off its lugs and fallen into the boot position

I never thought of 1) Flat 2) Angled up when boot is open, but I'm sure you're right,!!

So optimistic mattj £20per string but there is labour for fitting it which the stealership will not have mentioned and vat on top.

yeh turning a simple job in to one costing hundreds !!

got charged £202 the other day for diasgnosics and a report to the warranty company !!
