Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
have the glowplugs checked and go on from there.....usually it IS the glowplugs producing that error....

Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
It is not a glow plug, blazinl. Glow plugs cause the light "service" when starting cold engine.
The light "stop" means something critical is happening. I hope you stopped the engine immediately upon seeing this light. You may want to tell us more about your car if you want help. Faults are usually diagnosed by analysing the context of a failure.
Please read the manual (PDF files) pointed at in my message in Links for interpretation of this light.

Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
My daughter is having the same intermittent fault with the Stop and injector fault lights, they go away when she lifts off the accelerator. It's been doing it on and off for 2 months, our local garage have put it on their computer and said diesel rail problem and it needs to go to a Renault specialist. Has anyone sucessfully had this problem rectified and if so, at what cost. It's a 53 plate 1.5 dci (86).
Cheers

just back from diagnostics, fuel pump problem, blaming bad diesel, mechanic says £2000 to fix, depressed, bad form, cant write anymore.

not a dealership,
ok more details
renault scenic 1.5dci
date of first registration 21/5/2004
scenic expression dci 80
engine no dz05987
32500 when i got er a year ago
55000 now.
bought diesel in same place all the time, just next door to my work, and he has reputable establishment.
driving last night, reved up to 3000rpm, injection fault and stop light came on.
read forums last night and panicked.
diagnostic test show up fuel system, pump and lines.
all need flushed and replaced.
dont know what to do, i have a feeling this is a common problem with the 1.5dci.
i feel like contacting renault, but probably will do no good.

renault won't be bothered, you'll get the rubber stamp not our problem after 3 years reply....they won't even accept there is a problem with the coils...
at that price, i'd seriously be investigating whether the fuel has caused this, and if it was, i know who i'd be sending the bill to

Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
If the pump failed, there should be metal filings in the filter. Have the filter checked.
Filings usually mean that the whole fuel system is contaminated in addition to failed pump -- there were a few such cases described at Parkers.
These pumps seem to be sensitive to the quality of fuel. Biodiesel, high ester content, low lubricity fuel, petrol, red diesel, etc., can damage them. Take a sample from the tank just in case.
Is it possible that the fuel pressure sensor or something related are at fault and not the pump?

Update:
I have collected the diagnostic results from Renault.
DF005 - Engine Speed Sensor Circuit - 4.DEF
DF112 - Camshaft Sensor Circuit - 2.DEF
DF015 - Main Relay Control Unit - 1.DEF
DF024 - Low Pressure Actuator Control Circuit - CO.0
DF025 - Preheating Unit Diagnostoc Connection - --
DF059 - Missfire on Cylinder 1 - --
DF053 - Rail Pressure Regulation Function - 1.DEF
Compression Test
Cylinder 1 - 26 BAR
Cylinder 2 - 22.5 BAR
Cylinder 3 - 23 BAR
Cylinder 4 - 16 BAR
Thats all for now, it is booked in with an engine rebuilder on Thursday. Hopefully once he has the head off I will know the extent of the damage. He has already said that if the engine is rebuildable then I will be having 4 new Injectors as standard but the old ones can be reconditioned by a Delphi garage near me and sold on Ebay, so hopefully be able to get a little bit of money back.
I will also get them to drain the fuel tank and sytem to flush it out but even once this and the engine has been finished they still need to work out the original cause. I still think the fuel pump has failed.

Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
DF053 1.DEF -- internal electrical fault related to Rail Pressure Regulation Function. It might be the high pressure regulator rather than the pump. Misfire may be related to low compression rather than caused by a faulty injector. The main relay is constantly "low" (DF015 1.DEF) -- check fuses, ground circuit, connectors, then read the manual for the procedure (and show it to your mechanic!). If neither of you read French, find the English version.
By running the compression check in a special way (wet and dry compression) it is possible to distinguish between faulty rings and everything else (e.g. valves) -- I am surprised that it was not done. It may easily happen that there is just one major mechanical problem, causing many other things, plus one or two minor electrical faults. It would be good to avoid replacement of the pump and injectors.

Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
Picked the car up from Renault today to tow it to the rebuilder.
Renault knew I was picking the car up today as it had pre-arranged.
I went to the car and waited for the service manager to bring me the key. When he handed it to me I noticed there was a piece broken off the emergency door key. I pointed this out to him and he informed me it was like that when I handed it over to them. So I asked where they had written this down as they would record this in the same way they do a body check just to cover themselves.
He didnt reply to me just kept staring at the key, he them pointed out a little dent near the break and said that it looks like a small child has bitten it. "do you have small children?" while he was looking at the child seat in the back of my car. I explained that the key never leaves my wallet as I have wireless entry. I asked if he let his children play with his wallet to which he replied, "I'm not that silly" Ok... So your saying that I am? "Look sir, the key has been bitten and I will not be replacing it".
I told him that I would leave it for now as I had to get the car to the rebuilder before he closes.
I popped the boot to get the towing eye, the dirty engine cover, battery cover and wheel arche liner had all been thrown in the boot on top of my coat. I asked him why these were not put back on the car and he just shrugged. I looked into the wheel arch and noticed a fuel pipe hanging from fuel pump. Again he had no answer. I got into the car after reconnecting the fuel line onto the pump and tried to turn the hazzards on, guess what...... the battery was also flat.
Cheers Renault....... Anyone know the number for customer services, I'm gonna give someone hell over this one

Re: Injection Fault & STOP 1.5 DCI
... and what is the name of the dealer? I hope you've got their explanations in writing. What do you think about publishing an article in the local newspaper?
BTW, you may want to do all diagnosis from scratch -- these monkeys are clearly monkeys! A few fault codes in your list can be caused by a flat battery. The trouble is that they might be erased now. Furthermore, DF015 looks dodgy -- they could have damaged the main relay unit.
The good news is that the pump and injectors may not need replacement (as I wrote before). Make sure that your mechanic is familiar with the manual and also do both dry and wet compression checks before anything else.

The dealer is:
SUTTON PARK
BURTON ON TRENT
37 LICHFIELD STREET
BURTON ON TRENT
DE14 3RH
01283 740001
I have no issues at all about taking my story to the local paper and will explain this when I contact customer care.
I will keep everyone updated on the progress with this.
As for the manual, I cant find an english copy anywhere. I have had a search on the torrents without luck.
Do you know where I can get it and also which bit I need out of the 500 pages? Also do you know where I can get a list of all the error codes?

What they said about being a parent is a clear case of discrimination. I can imagine your feelings.
The codes are here together with diagnostic procedures:

Unfortunately I don't have this file in English, but I know that they were distributed as a part of Dialogys computer system. I guess that a few members of this forum might have the English version. Could they help, please?!!
